| Notes: | Clark549 is what is called a "Dark Nebula", which is exactly that, a nebula that does not reflect any light. You can see it is there by the absence of stars. It is as if someone took a paintbrush with black paint and painted over the stars in the area. While this object really does not have a common name, I refer to it as The Lyre because, well, it looks like the outline of a lyre! I really enjoyed doing this as most astrophotographers concentrate on big beautiful nebulas and detailed galaxies, it was nice to do something different and presented its own set of challenges. |
