| Notes: | Discovered by Guillaume Le Gentil in 1747 this star forming emission nebula is one of only two which can be seen with the naked eye from a northern latitude. At over 100 light years in diameter and being around 5,000 light years distant it is a fairly large object in the sky and sits in the constellation Sagitarius. |
