About Me

Hi! My name is Allan Hall and I have a lot of hobbies. I collect pens and watches, among other things, and then I want to know how they work. So at this point I take them apart and break them, so I have to buy the tools and learn how to fix what I just broke. Once they are fixed, since one of my jobs is as a photographer I take pictures of my accomplishments and post them here. This has led to my repairing other people's items and taking pictures of other people's items. That is the reason for this website, to share my love of pens, watches and photography, and offer some very basic services that hopefully will allow me to learn even more.

Here is my workbench where I repair pens and watches (among other things the wife decides I need to fix). All the pens are in a drawer out of the way while I work on watches here, three are being tested for timing (the one on the strap to the left, and the two just to the right and below that one), one just came out of the cleaner (two clear containers and one dome cover top center of the white pad), two await their turn on the far right of the white pad, one to the left of the screwdrivers is waiting to be sent off for a repair I do not have the tools for.

The first year I started all this mess some 40 pens and 30 watches passed this workbench. I am happy to say the vast majority survived :-)

I started offering my services on the web because I was looking for a way to help me learn by increasing the number of pens and watches that come across my bench while keeping my costs low. Hopefully, I can work on a wide variety of pieces without having to purchase them all and then have them sit in a desk drawer for eternity.

While I will be happy to help the individual with one item, my perfect customer would be a flea market dealer with boxes of items they want to return to working order and are willing to do a partial trade for my services. Or maybe a person who picked up a box of intact mechanical watches from an estate sale for $5 and wants to trade them for me building them a website.

To learn more about my photography, please visit my site just for that.
