Astrophotography

Here you will find my work with astrophotography, or photography of the sky. I received my first real scope on August 22nd 2011 and started taking astrophotos on September 19th so give it some time to grow and for them to get better. Messier Objects

Messier objects are objects that were discovered and/or cataloged by French astronomer Charles Messier in the 1700s while he was looking for comets. He noticed certain "fuzzy" objects that seemed to get in his way and obstruct his vision, so he cataloged them. With more modern telescopes we discovered that they are some of the most beautiful objects in the sky, and some of the most easily viewed. My intent is to photograph most of them over the next few years. So far I have 42 of 110.

Other Objects

Besides the Messier objects, there are many other catalogs with thousands of objects listed. These include NGC (New General Catalog) and IC (Index Catalogue of Nebulae and Clusters of Stars) both compiled by J. L. E. Dreyer from the 1880s through 1907. Images belonging to these and other catalogs are shown here.

Our Solar System

Our solar system is home to nine planets (including Pluto whether the IAU wants to or not), our sun, comets, asteroids, and of course, the moon. Below is anything and everything between the sun and Pluto I have captured.
