When people think of Cross they often think of those thin gold plated gift sets that middle to lower class people get as graduation gifts. This is not one of those pens.
The Townsend is a much larger pen that what you expect from Cross, and this one feels great in the hand. It posts well and is just a tad top heavy when posted. The platinum plating is beautiful to see and the theme is carried right down to the nib with gold accents. While a cartridge converter pen I do not really subtract as Cross has never to my knowledge made anything else. The fit and finish of this pen is quite good, better than I had expected from a low tier manufacturer such as this. It writes extremely well from either carts or the supplied converter.
For a $400 pen it is about average, for a $400 platinum plated pen, it is well above average. If you like the look of platinum, the feel of a nice pen, and don't want to spend a fortune, this is your pen!
